KRAKDOWN
.
Interview with guitarist Richi Krakdown, 1989
.
Q: A short history of the band?
.
A: Well, we've been playing here on Long Island for about 5 years, since about early 1985.
We had Chris singing with us back then and a different bass player, Bob, and another drummer.
The line up stayed like that for a while until things started not working out and I reformed the band with basically the current line up (Jason on vocals, John playing drums & Jaybird on bass) but we had a guy named Damien playing bass.
.
Q:What inspired you to play Hardcore?
.
A:Just living on Long Island and being bored with the regular bullshit, the typical stuff you hear around and listening to bands like The Ramones and Urban Waste, old bands like Agnostic Front.
Going to shows and realizing how boring Long Island is and how hard we could make it.
Just trying to play loud and fast is fun, and keep your own own style.
.
Q:How did you end up on the NYC Revelation Records "The Wat It Is"
compilation?
.
A:Jordan and Ray of Today asked us to do it.
We were in the middle of recording our 7".
We had Damien playing with us then and the song came out good, that was a good album altogether.
.
Q:Do you think you'll ever sign onto a big label?
.
A:We've had offers in the past 3 years from some of the bigger labels, as there are big labels and we haven't found anything that's really cool.
We don't want to go out there and just blow it, just be assholes and kiss ass to a label that wants us to do something that we don't want to.
So we refused all the Combat labels, Relativity and some big German label wanted
to sign us.
But we never saw them, so we didn't think that was a good idea.
So we're on Common Cause now and we'll see what happens with the 45.
We're waiting for the test pressing now. It should be out near Christmas time hopefully.
Maybe Santa Claus will bring you one.
.
Q:Any closing comments?
.
A:Just if your going to shows, it's about having a good time and not being hard and having to start fights to prove something.
Just go and enjoy it, make the best of it.
